To those of you who didn’t manage to join us on Sunday the Club hosted two hugely successful events, the Beaumaris League rowing races and the RYA Sponsored Magenta project. Both events ran seamlessly thanks to our fantastic army of volunteers, from the early morning breakfasts, to briefings, line staff, lunch, race officers, boat owners, paparazzi, and evening BBQs, all were handled enthusiastically and professionally by our members.
The Rowers were joined by 9 other rowing clubs so that more than 100 rowers (including 20 from Beaumaris) actually took part. Takings from entry fees, food and the raffle were very healthy, and our own wonderful rowers achieved impressive results in the Ladies, Seniors (mens’) and Mixed events – more details on finances and results once these are finalised.
The Magenta project was a coaching day, we hosted 20 women from the RAYC and as far as south wales for professional race training and coaching in the Fifes. The RAYC was one of only 10 clubs in the whole of the UK to have been selected to host one of these days and the feedback following the long day on the water has been excellent.
The conditions on Sunday were perfect for both events, with near flat calm conditions in the morning for the rowing races and a steady breeze and calm water in the afternoon for the sailing training.
My heartfelt thanks goes to everyone involved, we are all proud members of the RAYC, and hosting so many visitors really showed what a great club we have here in Beaumaris.
