A Special Regatta for Dinghies with a Portsmouth Number will be held off Beaumaris on Saturday, 5th September.
The events are organised under the auspices of the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club Sailing Committee.
The events will be held in accordance with:
- the RYA Cymru Wales advice for “Return to Boating”

To comply with the requirement that the activity “consists of no more than 30 persons” each event will be limited to 24 competitors (counting both helm and crew) with 6 race officials and patrol boat crew.
The events will be managed entirely outside with no access to the RAYC Club Premises.
- The first event will start at 12h00.
- Provision will be made for a second event starting at 14h00. The decision to go ahead will be based on the level of interest from the competitors. It will be treated as a separate event in terms of the 30 person limit.
- The races will start from the RAYC line on Beaumaris Green.
- High Water 1330. Height 7.2m

1 Rules
1.1 Racing will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS 2018 – 2020)
1.2 Any Changes to the racing rules are identified in the Sailing Instructions
2 Eligibility and Entry
The events are open to dinghies with a Portsmouth Number listed in the RYA PN List 2020 (https://www.rya.org.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/technical/Web Documents/PY Documentation/PN_List_2020.pdf).
To ensure compliance with COVID-19 rules boats are required to enter in advance. Entries will close at the end of Thursday 3rd September. No late entries can be accepted.
The attached entry form must be completed, signed and returned by email to paulwflower@hotmail.com.
3 Fees
There will be no charge for entry.
4 Schedule and Venues
The starts and finishes will be from the RAYC line on Beaumaris Green.
The official notice board will be on the RAYC Facebook page and by a WhatsApp group which will be set up from the entry forms.

5 Sailing Instruction
The events will be sailed under the Menai Strait Regatta Sailing Instructions. Available to download below.
6 Courses
Courses will be chosen by the Race Officer to take account of the local weather and tidal conditions.
Courses will be displayed at the start line using the “X course” procedure shown in the Sailing Instructions.
7 Penalty System
There will be no protest committee. Penalties as per relevant S.I. which will be posted on the RAYC web page (Link above in 5)
8 Scoring
Scoring will be in accordance with RRS Appendix A9. Separate results will be published for event 1 and event 2.
9 Prizes
There will be no prizes awarded for either event.
10 Risk Statement
Rule 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.”
Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:
a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore, and will carry adequate lifesaving equipment for all persons on board;
c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
e) The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances;
g) It is their responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced for the venue or event and to attend any safety briefing held at the venue
COVID Statement
By taking part in any of the events covered by this NOTICE OF RACE, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that they are responsible for complying with any WELSH GOVERMENT LEGISTLATION in force from time to time in respect of COVID–19 and for complying with the ROYAL ANGLESEY YACHT CLUB COVID–19 procedures.
Competitors participate in the events entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the events.
Competitors are required to sign acceptance of these conditions on the entry form. Failure to do so will results in participation being rejected.
11 Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.
