Rowing is an activity suitable for all ages and physical abilities. You don’t have to be particularly strong or fit to get started.
Wear suitable clothing for the conditions on the day: possibly a windproof coat, under-
We board the boats from water up to knee-
Bringing a change of clothes and shoes might be a good idea.
If you have a buoyancy aid or lifejacket, please bring it with you. If not, the Club will lend you a buoyancy aid.
Rowers usually bring a bottle of water with them because rowing is quite thirsty work!
The taster session will only take place if the weather conditions are suitable and the tide is not too far out. Taster sessions are not run during the colder months of the year because the sessions inevitably involve some sitting still whilst tuition is being given.

Commands used by the Cox
On the water
In the boat there will be an experienced cox, two experienced rowers and two tastees.
Boarding safely
Adjusting foot block etc.
A short row around half an hour. (Not too long because some of the muscles may not have been used very much recently!)
If you need to stop rowing for any reason, tell the cox who will stop the boat so you can adjust the foot block, take a layer of clothing off etc.
If possible, also enjoy the scenery and wildlife!
