RAYC member Antony ‘Trigger’ Robinson has been volunteering his time to help out with the Conway Centre’s Sailability group.
The group has been set up to help get those with a disability out on the water and enjoy the freedom of sailing. It is proving to be very popular with groups from Mencap Cymru, Leonard Cheshire and members of the BSL deaf community in North Wales.
The Conway Centre has facilities that include wheelchair accessible pontoon, a hoist and a variety of accessible keel boats but without volunteers to help the sailing sessions wouldn’t happen.
RYA Cymru Wales North Wales Regional Development Officer Rosy Hearn said that ‘volunteers from our local sailing clubs are vital to the sustainability of groups like the one at the Conway Centre and their time is much appreciated by all’.
If anyone is interested in getting involved with Sailability they can contact the club or RYA Cymru Wales for more details.
