RAYC – Coronavirus Updates

An Update from the Commodore:  10th May 2020:

Dear All

I hope you are all safe, well and coping with the current situation.

I am sure, like me, you are missing being on the water, but doing our bit for the country is more important right now.

We are very mindful of our responsibility to safeguard the health and well-being of members and the general public. We will therefore continue to follow the requirements and guidance of the Government, the RYA and the Welsh Sea Rowing Association.  Therefore, for the time being all the on the water activity remains postponed.  In recent meetings I have had with the RYA, they have informed us that they are lobbying Government for a swift return to on water activities when deemed safe to do so.

We are not sure when we will be able to resume club activities, so I ask for your continued support through this period of uncertainty.  It will be your enthusiasm that will fuel a successful return to our sport.  I can assure you that my management committee and I are working hard to ensure that as soon as there is clarity on how we are able to get back on the water we will react very quickly to get activities up and running again.  We will keep you informed by e-mail and on the web site, and via Spond for rowing members.

If you have any questions, concerns or worries please get in touch with the Secretary, Tim Knowles, or me directly.

We are all in this together and are here to support each other.

Commodore

…End of Update:

Original Post: 17th March 2020

We want to protect our members and our community so the RAYC Management team are closely monitoring the pandemic of Coronavirus (Covid-19), given the recent public health advice we have been reviewing all organised events and meetings.

We have now taken the difficult decision to cancel all club meetings and club social events until after Easter. We will not be open on Sundays for the moment and rowing activity has been cancelled too. Rest assured though, that the day to day running of the club will continue, just without face to face meetings.

We will review the situation and be in touch with you again after this time.

We are keen to take the appropriate mitigating action in line with Guidance. More information can be found on the public health wales web site: https://phw.nhs.wales/topics/latest-information-on-novel-coronavirus-covid-19/

As this is such a fast-moving situation we will be using social media and email to communicate updates, so if you know of a member you know does not have access to email or social media please can you let us know, we will be calling anyone who requests a telephone update. Similarly, if you are self-isolating, or unable to get out let us know so we can help you.

Being part of a club means we all support each other.
Please bear with us as this is an unprecedented situation for us all.

With all our best wishes

Stevie Scanlan,
Commodore and the Management team of the RAYC
